STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Trader Joe’s is recalling around 653,000 mango-tangerine-scented candles for a fire hazard, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The grocery store chain issued a recall on Aug. 15 after discovering that the candle flame could spread from the wick to the wax, and in turn, cause a larger-than-expected flame, the CPSC reports.
The scented candles, with SKU number 56879 on the bottom of the tin container, were sold in June 2024, the CPSC said.
The CPSC noted there have been 14 reports of incidents involving high flames with the candles. Of those reports, three included minor property damage and two involved minor burns.
Customers who purchased the recalled candles are urged to immediately stop use of the product and return the candle for a full cash refund of $4, as stated by the CPSC.
