We keep an eye out for companies that are truly struggling and may be headed for disaster. Stocks on are watch list are typically losing money, filing for bankruptcy or fighting to survive. We urge investors to do their homework when a company reaches this stage. Lands End is another retailer that’s on our radar.
Formerly Sears’ casual clothing, luggage, and home furnishings offshoot, Lands’ End has inherited some of the problems of its former corporate parent. With the bankruptcy of Sears, Lands’ End was forced to close its store-within-a-store branches in Sears stores. While the Lands’ End catalog remains strong, partnerships with brands such as Canvas have failed to meet expectations.
